Beaches

Foz do Arelho – the closest beach to the villa and just a short 15 minute drive away.  One of the most popular beaches for both local and visiting families, the vast wave pounded beach leads inland to Obidos lagoon.  Stretching 8km in length there is plenty of space to enjoy the calmer warmer waters and is a firm favourite with families and watersports enthusiasts.  There are many reasonably priced beachside bars offering lovely views over the Atlantic and the lagoon. 

Peniche – for serious surfing (or spectating!) head to Peniche, reached door to door by dual carriage-way it’s an easy 20 minute drive.  Here you will find the world famous ‘Super Tube’ surf break, but Peniche is also great for exploring the fort and its many harbourside restaurants.  There is also a water park in Peniche.

Baleal - A couple of miles north of Peniche is the sandy little island village of Baleal, connected via causeway to the mainland, it has lovely protected beaches offering more gentle conditions for the beginner surfer and it's great for families.  There are numerous surf schools offering lessons and equipment for hire and plenty of beachside cafes and restaurants with fantastic views of the Atlantic waves.

There are many other beach resorts to explore including Nazare, Sao Martinho do Porto, and Sao Pedro de Moel.
